Abstract

The advances in science and technology in the 21st Century have impacted the contradicting challenges it has experienced before. The aim of this research is to look into students’ needs in using electronic modules to increase the critical thinking skilss, as determined by student and teacher feedback. Through a questionnaire and interview, the data were obtained. The data was quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed. The subjects of this study were 30 students and 20 teachers. The results of the needs analysis revealed that 1) students are still experiencing some difficulty in physics, 2) the teacher expects an electronic module that contains video content about physical phenomena, contains pictures, graphics, contains practice questions, contains short material,contains competency tests, instructional instructions, and uses language that is easy to understand; and 3) no electronic module to improve the students’s critical thinking skills. Because the student’s need for electronic modules because it is comfortable and practical to use at any time. Therefore, it can be concluded that the teaching materials used are still printed teaching materials, an electronic module is needed to increase students' critical thinking skills.
